Failsafe Series-Connected Radio System - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17920595 titled 'Failsafe Series-Connected Radio System

Simplified Explanation

Abstract

A wireless system consists of a controlling node and multiple antenna processing nodes. The antenna processing nodes are connected to the controlling node but are physically separated from each other. One of the antenna processing nodes communicates with the controlling node in one direction and relays communications between the controlling node and other antenna processing nodes in the opposite direction. If communication with the controlling node fails in the first direction, the antenna processing node switches to communicate with a different controlling node in the second direction.

Bullet Points

  • Wireless system with a controlling node and multiple antenna processing nodes
  • Antenna processing nodes are physically separated from each other
  • One antenna processing node communicates with the controlling node in one direction
  • It relays communications between the controlling node and other antenna processing nodes in the opposite direction
  • If communication with the controlling node fails in the first direction, the antenna processing node switches to a different controlling node in the second direction

Potential Applications

  • Mobile communication networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) systems
  • Wireless sensor networks
  • Satellite communication systems

Problems Solved

  • Reduces the risk of communication failure in wireless systems
  • Provides a backup communication path in case of failure
  • Increases reliability and availability of wireless networks

Benefits

  • Improved communication reliability
  • Enhanced network resilience
  • Reduces downtime and service interruptions
  • Enables seamless switching between controlling nodes

Original Abstract Submitted

A wireless system comprises at least one controlling node and two or more antenna processing nodes coupled to the controlling node but separated from each other. A first antenna processing node communicates () with a first controlling node in a first direction along a series of links serially connecting the first controlling node and two or more antenna processing nodes including the first antenna processing node, and relays () communications between the first controlling node and at least a second antenna processing node, in a second direction along the series of links. In response to determining () that communications with the first controlling node in the first direction have failed, the first antenna processing node communicates () with a controlling node in the second direction along the series of links.
