METHOD AND SYSTEM TO PERFORM RACS OPERATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17917825 titled 'METHOD AND SYSTEM TO PERFORM RACS OPERATION

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a method for handover of User Equipment (UE) from a Source-Radio Access Network (S-RAN) to a Target-Radio Access Network (T-RAN) in a pre-5G or 5G communication system. The method involves optimizing the signaling related to UE Radio Capability (URC) and ensuring the availability of URC information at the T-RAN. The handover procedure is performed using either the URC Identification (URC-ID) or the URC information.

  • The method involves detecting if both the S-RAN and T-RAN support UE Radio Capability (URC) signaling optimization.
  • It further includes determining if the T-RAN has the URC information corresponding to a URC Identification (URC-ID).
  • If the URC information is not available at the T-RAN, the method involves sending the URC information to the T-RAN.
  • If the URC information is available at the T-RAN, the method involves sending the URC-ID to the T-RAN.
  • Finally, the handover procedure is performed with the UE using either the URC-ID or the URC information.

Potential Applications

  • This method can be applied in pre-5G or 5G communication systems to support higher data rates beyond 4G systems like LTE.
  • It can be used in scenarios where handover of User Equipment (UE) from one Radio Access Network (RAN) to another RAN is required.

Problems Solved

  • The method solves the problem of optimizing signaling related to UE Radio Capability (URC) during handover in a pre-5G or 5G communication system.
  • It addresses the issue of ensuring the availability of URC information at the Target-Radio Access Network (T-RAN) during handover.

Benefits

  • By optimizing URC signaling, this method improves the efficiency and reliability of handover procedures in pre-5G or 5G communication systems.
  • It ensures that the necessary URC information is available at the Target-Radio Access Network (T-RAN) for a smooth handover process.
  • The method enhances the overall performance and user experience in high-speed communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a pre-5-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Embodiments herein provide a method of User Equipment (UE) handover from a Source-Radio Access Network (S-RAN) to a Target-Radio Access Network (T-RAN). The method comprises detecting whether the S-RAN and the T-RAN both support UE () Radio Capability (URC) signaling optimization. Further, determining whether a URC information corresponding to a URC Identification (URC-ID) is available at the T-RAN. Furthermore, sending the URC information to the T-RAN upon determining un-availability of the URC information at the T-RAN, or sending the URC-ID to the T-RAN upon determining availability of the URC information at the T-RAN. Finally, performing handover procedure with the UE () using one of the URC-ID and the URC information.
