MULTI-LINK ERROR RECOVERY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17916987 titled 'MULTI-LINK ERROR RECOVERY

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a transmitting multi-link device (MLD) that operates on multiple links simultaneously. The MLD acquires a transmission opportunity (TXOP) on a first link and transmits a data unit called a physical protocol data unit (PPDU) on that link. It then receives a block acknowledgment (BA) frame for the transmitted PPDU and sends another PPDU on the same link. If the MLD does not receive a BA frame for the second PPDU within a preconfigured time interval, it changes the responder of the TXOP.

  • The patent application is for a transmitting multi-link device (MLD) that can operate on multiple links simultaneously.
  • The MLD acquires a transmission opportunity (TXOP) on a first link and transmits a physical protocol data unit (PPDU) on that link.
  • It receives a block acknowledgment (BA) frame for the transmitted PPDU and sends another PPDU on the same link.
  • If the MLD does not receive a BA frame for the second PPDU within a preconfigured time interval, it changes the responder of the TXOP.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems that require efficient transmission over multiple links.
  • It can be used in scenarios where high data rates and reliable transmission are crucial, such as video streaming, online gaming, and real-time communication.

Problems Solved

  • The transmitting MLD solves the problem of inefficient transmission over multiple links by optimizing the use of transmission opportunities.
  • It addresses the issue of unreliable transmission by monitoring the receipt of block acknowledgment frames and adjusting the responder of the TXOP accordingly.

Benefits

  • The use of multiple links allows for increased data throughput and improved reliability in wireless communication.
  • The ability to change the responder of the TXOP based on the receipt of block acknowledgment frames ensures efficient and reliable transmission.
  • This technology can enhance the overall performance and user experience in wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure proposes a transmitting multi-link device (MLD) including a first station (STA) operating on a first link and a second STA operating on a second link. The transmitting MLD acquires a first transmission opportunity (TXOP) in the first link and transmits a first physical protocol data unit (PPDU) in the first link. The transmitting MLD receives a block acknowledgment (BA) frame for the first PPDU in the first link and transmits a second PPDU in the first link. The transmitting MLD changes a responder of the first TXOP based on not receiving, from the receiving MLD, a BA frame for the second PPDU within a preconfigured time interval in the first link.
