DYNAMIC CODING FOR WIRELESS SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17916948 titled 'DYNAMIC CODING FOR WIRELESS SYSTEMS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application related to wireless communications. The patent application proposes a method for dynamically mapping encoded packets in a wireless communication system.

  • The method involves a base station identifying a set of encoded packets from a set of source packets.
  • The base station then maps subsets of the encoded packets onto two sets of resources using different coding rates.
  • The base station may schedule some of the resources from the second set for receiving feedback from user equipments (UEs).
  • The base station can also identify a second set of encoded packets from a second set of source packets and map them onto the second set of resources and a third set of resources.
  • A UE can recover the first or second sets of source packets based on the encoded packets transmitted by the base station.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, to improve the efficiency and reliability of data transmission.
  • It can be used in various applications that require high-speed wireless data transfer, such as video streaming, online gaming, and real-time communication.

Problems Solved

  • The proposed method solves the problem of efficiently mapping encoded packets in a wireless communication system.
  • It addresses the challenge of optimizing coding rates and resource allocation to ensure reliable transmission and minimize latency.

Benefits

  • The method allows for dynamic mapping of encoded packets, which improves the overall efficiency of the wireless communication system.
  • By using different coding rates and mapping subsets of encoded packets onto different sets of resources, the method optimizes resource allocation and enhances the reliability of data transmission.
  • The ability to recover source packets based on the transmitted encoded packets improves the error correction capabilities of the system, leading to improved data integrity.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. One method of dynamically mapping encoded packets may include a base station identifying a set of encoded packets from a set of source packets. The base station may map subsets of the encoded packets onto a first and a second set of resources using different coding rates. In some examples, the base station may schedule one or more resources from the second set of resources for receiving feedback from one or more user equipments (UEs). In some examples, the base station may identify a second set of encoded packets from a second set of source packets and may map the second set of encoded packets onto the second set of resources and a third set of resources. A UE may recover the first or second sets of source packets based on the encoded packets transmitted by the base station.
