METHOD FOR PERFORMING CHANNEL ACCESS PROCEDURE AND DEVICE THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17916676 titled 'METHOD FOR PERFORMING CHANNEL ACCESS PROCEDURE AND DEVICE THEREFOR

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a method for a terminal in a wireless communication system to transmit an uplink signal. The method involves several steps:

  • The terminal receives information about the size of a unit bandwidth (BW) for listen-before-talk (LBT).
  • The terminal obtains an energy detection (ED) threshold and maximum output power associated with the unit bandwidth.
  • The terminal performs the LBT based on the unit bandwidth and the ED threshold.
  • The terminal transmits an uplink signal based on the result of the LBT and the maximum output power.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This method can be used in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, and IoT networks.
  • It can be applied in scenarios where multiple terminals need to share the same frequency band to avoid interference.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The method addresses the issue of interference in wireless communication systems by implementing a listen-before-talk mechanism.
  • It ensures that terminals do not transmit their signals if the channel is already occupied, reducing the chances of collisions and improving overall system performance.

Benefits of this technology:

  • By performing listen-before-talk, the method helps to minimize interference and improve the reliability of uplink transmissions.
  • It allows for efficient utilization of the available spectrum by ensuring that only terminals with clear channels transmit their signals.
  • The method helps to optimize the overall performance of the wireless communication system by avoiding collisions and maximizing the use of available resources.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure provides a method for transmitting an uplink signal by a terminal in a wireless communication system. Specifically, the method comprises: receiving information related to the size of a unit bandwidth (BW) for listen-before-talk (LBT); obtaining an energy detection (ED) threshold and maximum output power associated with the unit bandwidth; performing the LBT on the basis of the unit bandwidth and the ED threshold; and transmitting an uplink signal on the basis of a result of the LBT and the maximum output power.
