Layout Analysis Method and Electronic Device - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17916520 titled 'Layout Analysis Method and Electronic Device

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method, apparatus, and system for controlling devices in a smart home using body movements. Here are the key points:

  • The method involves recognizing an environmental image and identifying regions to be recognized within the image.
  • The system monitors the movement of a target body part within the recognized region.
  • If the movement matches a preset activation movement, the system tracks and monitors the movement of the target body part in a specific region.
  • If the movement in the specific region matches a preset control movement, the system controls a terminal device to perform a corresponding function operation.
  • The terminal device is controlled using a two-stage movement of the target body part.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Smart home automation: The system can be used to control various devices in a smart home, such as lights, thermostats, and appliances, using body movements.
  • Accessibility: This technology can assist individuals with limited mobility or disabilities in controlling devices in their homes without the need for physical interaction.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Convenience: Users can control devices in their smart homes without the need for physical buttons or remote controls, making the process more convenient and intuitive.
  • Accessibility: This technology provides an alternative control method for individuals with limited mobility or disabilities, allowing them to interact with their environment more easily.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Hands-free control: Users can control devices using body movements, eliminating the need for physical interaction and providing a hands-free experience.
  • Intuitive interaction: The system recognizes and responds to natural body movements, making the interaction with devices more intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Improved accessibility: This technology enables individuals with limited mobility or disabilities to independently control devices in their homes, promoting inclusivity and independence.

Original Abstract Submitted

A device control method, apparatus, and system applicable to the field of smart home technologies. The method includes: recognizing a collected environmental image; determining at least one to-be-recognized region in the environmental image; monitoring a target body part movement in the to-be-recognized region; if it is monitored that the target body part movement is consistent with a preset activation movement, tracking and monitoring a target body part movement in a target to-be-recognized region; or if it is monitored that the target body part movement in the target to-be-recognized region is a preset control movement, controlling a terminal device to perform a function operation corresponding to the control movement. The terminal device is controlled by using a target body part movement including two-stage movements.
