DISPLAY SUBSTRATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17915365 titled 'DISPLAY SUBSTRATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND DISPLAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display substrate that has a display area and a non-display area. The substrate is flexible and includes stretchable regions that extend from the display area to the non-display area. It also has a plurality of openings arranged in an array within the stretchable regions. Additionally, there is at least one signal line located on a first side of the substrate in the non-display area, and the signal line does not overlap with some of the openings.

  • The display substrate is flexible and includes stretchable regions.
  • The stretchable regions extend from the display area to the non-display area.
  • The substrate has a plurality of openings arranged in an array within the stretchable regions.
  • At least one signal line is located on a first side of the substrate in the non-display area.
  • The signal line does not overlap with some of the openings.

Potential Applications

  • This display substrate can be used in various electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices.
  • It can be used in flexible displays that require stretchability and flexibility.
  • The substrate's design allows for improved durability and reliability in electronic devices.

Problems Solved

  • The stretchable regions of the substrate address the need for flexibility in electronic devices.
  • The openings within the stretchable regions provide a way to accommodate the stretching of the substrate without affecting the signal lines.
  • The non-overlapping signal lines prevent any interference or damage to the openings during stretching.

Benefits

  • The flexible and stretchable nature of the substrate allows for more versatile and durable electronic devices.
  • The design of the substrate ensures that the signal lines remain intact and functional even when the substrate is stretched.
  • The array of openings within the stretchable regions provides a mechanism for the substrate to stretch without compromising its functionality.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display substrate, which is provided with a display area and a non-display area that is adjacent to the display area. The display substrate comprises: a flexible base substrate, the flexible base substrate comprising at least one stretchable region, the stretchable regions extending from the display area to the non-display area, a plurality of openings arranged in an array being provided within the stretchable regions; and at least one signal line, which is disposed on a first side of the flexible base substrate and which is located in the non-display area, and an orthographic projection of the signal line on the flexible base substrate does not overlap with at least some of the openings among the plurality of openings.
