Electrode Connection Apparatus and Electrode Connection Automation Method Using the Same - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17915000 titled 'Electrode Connection Apparatus and Electrode Connection Automation Method Using the Same

Simplified Explanation

The present invention is an electrode connection apparatus designed to automatically connect electrode rolls to each other during the manufacturing process. The apparatus includes several components:

  • Transfer unit: This unit is responsible for transferring the start portion of a standby electrode roll while gripping it.
  • Leading unit: This unit moves upwards while gripping the start portion of the standby electrode roll transferred by the transfer unit.
  • First connection unit: This unit fixes the standby electrode roll transferred by the leading unit.
  • Second connection unit: This unit fixes the end portion of a moving electrode roll.
  • Taping unit: This unit connects the standby electrode roll and the moving electrode roll to each other.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Electrode manufacturing: The apparatus can be used in the roll-to-roll process of manufacturing electrodes, making it easier and more efficient to connect electrode rolls.
  • Battery production: The technology can be applied in the production of batteries, where electrode rolls need to be connected to each other.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Manual labor: The apparatus eliminates the need for manual labor in connecting electrode rolls, reducing the time and effort required in the manufacturing process.
  • Inefficiency: By automating the connection process, the apparatus improves the efficiency of electrode manufacturing, leading to increased productivity.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Automation: The apparatus automates the connection of electrode rolls, reducing the reliance on manual labor and improving overall efficiency.
  • Time-saving: By eliminating the need for manual connection, the apparatus saves time in the electrode manufacturing process.
  • Improved productivity: The automation and time-saving aspects of the apparatus contribute to increased productivity in electrode manufacturing.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present invention relates to an electrode connection apparatus including a transfer unit configured to transfer a start portion of a standby electrode roll in a state of gripping the start portion, a leading unit configured to move upwards in a state of gripping the start portion of the standby electrode roll transferred by the transfer unit, a first connection unit configured to fix the standby electrode roll transferred by the leading unit, a second connection unit configured to fix an end portion of a moving electrode roll, and a taping unit configured to connect the standby electrode roll and the moving electrode roll to each other, whereby it is possible to automatically connect the electrode rolls to each other during an electrode manufacturing process performed as a roll-to-roll process.
