SUBBAND-SPECIFIC CODEBOOK SUBSET RESTRICTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17907931 titled 'SUBBAND-SPECIFIC CODEBOOK SUBSET RESTRICTION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It focuses on the configuration and reporting of channel state information (CSI) in a wireless network.

  • A user equipment (UE) receives a first configuration of one or more channel state information reference signal resources and a second configuration of a channel state information report associated with these resources.
  • The second configuration includes information about a codebook, a set of codebook restriction sets, and a configured bandwidth.
  • The UE identifies a mapping between frequency-domain subbands of the configured bandwidth and each codebook restriction set.
  • Based on this mapping, the UE transmits a report to the base station indicating precoding matrix indicators from the codebook for each frequency-domain subband.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • 5G networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Mobile devices and smartphones

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient configuration and reporting of channel state information in wireless networks
  • Improved communication performance and reliability
  • Enhanced utilization of available network resources

Benefits of this technology:

  • More accurate and reliable channel state information
  • Improved signal quality and reduced interference
  • Enhanced network capacity and efficiency
  • Better overall performance of wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first configuration of one or more channel state information reference signal resources and a second configuration of a channel state information report associated with the one or more channel state information reference signal resources. In some cases, the second configuration may include at least one of an indication of a codebook, a set of codebook restriction sets, and a configured bandwidth. The UE may then identify a mapping between one or more frequency-domain subbands of the configured bandwidth and each codebook restriction set of the set of codebook restriction sets, and transmit, to the base station, a report indicating one or more precoding matrix indicators from the codebook for each of the one or more frequency-domain subbands based on the mapping.
