TECHNIQUES FOR SOFT CANCELLING UPLINK TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17906305 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR SOFT CANCELLING UPLINK TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application is related to wireless communication and specifically focuses on a mechanism for canceling or reducing the power of uplink transmissions on a shared radio frequency spectrum band. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The patent application describes a method for a user equipment to receive a cancellation indication for an uplink transmission on a shared radio frequency spectrum band.
  • The shared radio frequency spectrum band uses a listen-before-talk channel access mechanism to access the spectrum.
  • Based on the received cancellation indication, the user equipment determines whether to cancel the uplink transmission or transmit it at a reduced power.
  • If the decision is to transmit at reduced power, the user equipment proceeds to transmit the uplink transmission at the reduced power.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, and IoT networks.
  • It can help improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization by allowing cancellations or reduced power transmissions when necessary.
  • The technology can be used to mitigate interference and improve overall network performance.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The cancellation mechanism helps prevent unnecessary uplink transmissions, reducing congestion and interference in the shared spectrum band.
  • By allowing reduced power transmissions, the technology helps conserve energy and optimize the use of network resources.
  • It provides a more flexible and adaptive approach to managing uplink transmissions in a shared spectrum environment.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved spectrum efficiency by canceling or reducing power of unnecessary uplink transmissions.
  • Enhanced network performance by mitigating interference and reducing congestion.
  • Energy savings and optimized resource utilization through reduced power transmissions.
  • Increased flexibility and adaptability in managing uplink transmissions in a shared spectrum environment.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may receive a cancellation indication associated with an uplink transmission on a shared radio frequency spectrum band, the shared radio frequency spectrum band having a listen-before-talk channel access mechanism to access the shared radio frequency spectrum band; determine, based at least in part on the reception of the cancellation indication associated with the uplink transmission on the shared radio frequency spectrum band, whether the uplink transmission is to be cancelled or transmitted at a reduced transmit power; and when the uplink transmission is to be transmitted at the reduced transmit power, transmitting the uplink transmission at the reduced transmit power. Numerous other aspects are provided.
