METHOD AND WIRELESS NETWORK FOR SUPPORTING MULTIPLE MEASUREMENT GAPS IN WIRELESS NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17903588 titled 'METHOD AND WIRELESS NETWORK FOR SUPPORTING MULTIPLE MEASUREMENT GAPS IN WIRELESS NETWORK

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for supporting multiple measurement gaps in a wireless network, specifically in a 5G or 6G communication system. The method involves creating a radio resource control (RRC) message with additional information elements (IEs) to configure the measurement gaps, transmitting this message to a user equipment (UE) in the network, and receiving an RRC message indicating successful application of the measurement gap configuration from the UE.

  • The method supports a higher data transmission rate in a 5G or 6G communication system.
  • It allows for the configuration of multiple measurement gaps in a wireless network.
  • The method involves creating and transmitting RRC messages with additional IEs for configuring the measurement gaps.
  • The UE in the network receives and applies the measurement gap configuration.
  • The method ensures successful application of the measurement gap configuration through the received RRC message.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in 5G or 6G communication systems to support higher data transmission rates.
  • It can be used in wireless networks to improve network performance and efficiency.

Problems Solved

  • The method solves the problem of supporting a higher data transmission rate in a 5G or 6G communication system.
  • It addresses the need for configuring multiple measurement gaps in a wireless network.
  • The method ensures successful application of the measurement gap configuration.

Benefits

  • The technology allows for a higher data transmission rate in a 5G or 6G communication system.
  • It improves network performance and efficiency by supporting multiple measurement gaps.
  • The method ensures successful application of the measurement gap configuration, enhancing the overall network reliability.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5generation (5G) or 6generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method for supporting multiple measurement gaps in a wireless network by a radio access network node (RAN node) is provided. The method includes creating a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising one of a RRC Reconfiguration or a RRC Resume with additional Information Elements (IEs) for configuration of the multiple measurement gaps, transmitting the RRC message with the additional IEs in the gap configuration of each of the measurement gap to a user equipment (UE) in the wireless network for configuration of the multiple measurement gaps. Further, the method includes receiving an RRC message comprising of one of an RRC Reconfiguration Complete or an RRC Resume Complete indicating successful application of the received measurement gap configuration from the UE.
