INTER-DEVICE COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17903374 titled 'INTER-DEVICE COMMUNICATION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and apparatus for communications between user equipment. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The first device receives sidelink control information from the second device, indicating a reservation of a single-slot resource for communication.
  • The first device determines if there is a potential resource collision when it is scheduled to communicate with another device using the same single-slot resource or if the resource is already reserved by another device.
  • If a potential collision is detected, the first device sends a collision message to the second device within a predetermined number of slots from a reference slot.
  • The collision message prompts the second device to find another single-slot resource to use for communication with the first device.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Mobile networks
  • Vehicle-to-vehicle communication

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Avoiding resource collisions in wireless communication
  • Efficiently managing communication resources in crowded networks
  • Ensuring reliable and uninterrupted communication between devices

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved communication reliability
  • Efficient resource allocation
  • Reduced interference and collisions in wireless networks
  • Enhanced performance of IoT devices and mobile networks

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for communications between user equipment. One of the methods includes receiving, by a first device and from a second device, sidelink control information indicating a resource reservation for a single-slot resource for the second device to use to communicate with the first device; determining, by the first device and based at least in part on the sidelink control information, whether a potential resource collision exists when the first device is scheduled to communicate with another device using the single-slot resource or when the single-slot resource is reserved by another device; and in response to determining that the potential resource collision exists, sending, by the first device and within a predetermined number of slots from a reference slot, a collision message to cause the second device to determine another single-slot resource to use to communicate with the first device.
