WHEEL NUT LOOSENING DETECTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17899301 titled 'WHEEL NUT LOOSENING DETECTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a device for detecting loosening of wheel nuts on a vehicle. The device includes a wheel with a wheel nut fastening unit, a hub, a wheel bolt, and a wheel nut. The wheel nut has at least one magnet mounted on it, and there is a closed circuit mounted in the wheel nut fastening unit adjacent to the magnet.

  • The device includes a current detector that detects changes in current in the closed circuit and outputs a corresponding signal.
  • An output unit is also included, which outputs a warning signal when the current detector detects a change in current.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Automotive industry: This device can be used in vehicles to detect loosening of wheel nuts, ensuring the safety of the vehicle and its occupants.
  • Fleet management: Fleet operators can use this device to monitor the condition of wheel nuts in their vehicles, reducing the risk of accidents and maintenance costs.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Safety: The device helps prevent accidents caused by loose wheel nuts, which can lead to wheel detachment and loss of control.
  • Maintenance costs: By detecting loosening of wheel nuts early on, the device can help prevent further damage to the vehicle and reduce maintenance costs.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Early detection: The device can detect loosening of wheel nuts at an early stage, allowing for timely intervention and preventing potential accidents.
  • Cost-effective: By reducing the risk of accidents and damage to vehicles, the device can help save on maintenance and repair costs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A wheel nut loosening detection device including: a wheel having a wheel nut fastening unit; a hub; a wheel bolt configured to penetrate the wheel and the hub; a wheel nut fastened to the wheel bolt and configured to fix the wheel and the hub; at least one magnet mounted on the wheel nut; and a closed circuit mounted in the wheel nut fastening unit and disposed adjacent to the at least one magnet. The wheel nut loosening detection device further includes a current detector configured to output a corresponding output signal in response to a change in current in the closed circuit, and an output unit configured to output a warning signal in response to the output signal of the current detector.
