FOLDABLE GLASS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17895141 titled 'FOLDABLE GLASS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device with a foldable glass component that is connected to a hinge and two rotatable housings. The foldable glass consists of two glass bodies separated by slits, with bridges defining the slits. The bridges include main bridges between adjacent slits and sub bridges connecting main bridges or a main bridge to a glass body.

  • The electronic device includes a hinge part, rotatable housings, and a foldable glass component.
  • The foldable glass is made up of two glass bodies spaced apart from each other.
  • Slits are present between the glass bodies, and bridges define these slits.
  • Main bridges connect adjacent slits along a specific direction.
  • Sub bridges connect main bridges or a main bridge to a glass body.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Foldable smartphones or tablets with a flexible glass display.
  • Portable electronic devices with a compact design that can be easily folded and unfolded.
  • Wearable devices with a foldable glass component for improved flexibility and durability.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a solution for creating foldable electronic devices with a durable and flexible glass display.
  • Enables the development of compact and portable devices that can be easily folded and carried.
  • Addresses the need for wearable devices with a flexible glass component that can withstand bending and folding.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Allows for the creation of innovative electronic devices with a foldable glass display.
  • Provides a more durable and long-lasting solution compared to traditional flexible displays.
  • Offers improved portability and convenience for users with the ability to fold and unfold the device as needed.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device including a hinge part, housings rotatable around the hinge part; and a foldable glass facing the housings and foldable together with the pair of housings. The foldable glass including a pair of glass bodies spaced apart from one another along a first direction and respectively corresponding to the housings, a plurality of slits defined between the pair of glass bodies, and a plurality of bridges defining the plurality of slits and including a plurality of main bridges between slits adjacent to each other along the first direction, and a plurality of sub bridges connecting two adjacent main bridges among the plurality of main bridges to each other, or connecting any one of the plurality of main bridges to the glass body.
