TECHNIQUES FOR SIDELINK MINI-SLOT ASSIGNMENT AND USE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17886961 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR SIDELINK MINI-SLOT ASSIGNMENT AND USE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications, specifically focusing on sidelink communication between user equipment (UE).

  • User equipment (UE) receives control signaling indicating a set of sidelink shared resources, a threshold quantity of mini-slot reservations, and an indication of a sidelink transmission mode of operation.
  • Each slot of the set of sidelink shared resources may include multiple mini-slots.
  • The UE transmits sidelink control information to other sidelink UEs, reserving a set of mini-slots of a first slot to satisfy the threshold quantity of mini-slot reservations.
  • The UE transmits sidelink signaling to the other sidelink UEs via the set of mini-slots according to the specified sidelink transmission mode of operation.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Enhancing communication reliability and efficiency in wireless networks.
  • Facilitating direct communication between nearby devices without relying on the cellular network.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Managing and optimizing the allocation of shared resources for sidelink communication.
  • Ensuring that the threshold quantity of mini-slot reservations is satisfied for efficient data transmission.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved communication performance in dense wireless environments.
  • Enhanced coordination and resource allocation for sidelink communication.
  • Increased flexibility and efficiency in utilizing sidelink shared resources.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a set of sidelink shared resources of a sidelink shared resource pool, a threshold quantity of mini-slot reservations for the set of sidelink shared resources, and an indication of a sidelink transmission mode of operation, where each slot of one or more slots of the set of sidelink shared resources may include multiple mini-slots. The UE may transmit to one or more sidelink UEs, sidelink control information that may include a reservation of a set of mini-slots of a first slot of the multiple slots, where the quantity of the set of mini-slots satisfies the threshold quantity of mini-slot reservations. The UE may transmit sidelink signaling to the one or more sidelink UEs, via the set of mini-slots according to the sidelink transmission mode of operation associated with the set of mini-slots.
