ATTENUATION OF INDUCED MOTOR CURRENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17885733 titled 'ATTENUATION OF INDUCED MOTOR CURRENTS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method to reduce induced currents in a multi-phase AC motor by using an AC choke surrounding an AC bus providing voltage to the stator windings.

  • The AC choke has an effective bandwidth covering resonant frequencies of capacitance between the stator windings and the stator or frame of the motor.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Industrial machinery
  • Electric vehicles
  • HVAC systems

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Reduction of induced currents in multi-phase AC motors
  • Minimization of electromagnetic interference
  • Improved efficiency and performance of AC motors

Benefits of this technology:

  • Increased motor reliability and lifespan
  • Enhanced motor efficiency
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Improved overall system performance

Original Abstract Submitted

Induced currents in a multi-phase AC motor may be attenuated by operating the multi-phase AC motor with an AC choke surrounding an AC bus providing multi-phase AC voltage to multi-phase AC stator windings in a stator, wherein the AC choke may include an effective bandwidth at least covering resonant frequencies of a capacitance between the multi-phase AC stator windings and the stator or a frame of the AC motor.
