ENHANCEMENTS TO APPLICATION DATA UNIT METADATA - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17884550 titled 'ENHANCEMENTS TO APPLICATION DATA UNIT METADATA

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication, specifically focusing on determining the delivery status of a protocol data unit (PDU) set received by a user equipment (UE) based on control information and criteria provided.

  • User equipment (UE) receives control information identifying criteria for determining the delivery status of a PDU set associated with an application layer.
  • UE receives at least a portion of the PDU set and determines the delivery status based on the received portion and the identified criteria.
  • Delivery status refers to whether the PDU set was successfully delivered to the UE, based on factors such as quantity of bits/PDUs received and a threshold quantity.
  • Criteria for determining delivery status may include a combination of factors such as quantity of bits/PDUs and a threshold quantity.
      1. Potential Applications

- Wireless communication systems - Data transmission and reception in mobile devices - Quality of service monitoring in network communication

      1. Problems Solved

- Ensuring successful delivery of protocol data units in wireless communication - Efficient monitoring and management of data transmission in mobile devices - Improving reliability and performance of network communication systems

      1. Benefits

- Enhanced reliability in data delivery - Improved quality of service for users - Efficient utilization of network resources

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control information that identifies criteria to use for determining a delivery status of a protocol data unit (PDU) set that includes multiple PDUs. The PDU set may be associated with an application layer of the UE. Accordingly, the UE may receive at least a portion of the PDU set, and may determine the delivery status of the PDU set based on the received portion of the PDU set and the criteria identified by the control information. The delivery status of the PDU set may refer to whether the PDU set was successfully delivered to the UE. The delivery status of the PDU set may be based on a quantity of bits or PDUs in the received portion of the PDU set, a threshold quantity of bits or PDUs, or a combination thereof.
