CO-CHANNEL COEXISTENCE IN DIFFERENT RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES FOR SIDELINK COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17881460 titled 'CO-CHANNEL COEXISTENCE IN DIFFERENT RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES FOR SIDELINK COMMUNICATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes techniques for enabling co-channel coexistence in different radio access technologies (RATs) for sidelink communication. It explains that a wireless communication device can receive resource reservation messages using a first RAT, where each message identifies resources of a sidelink channel for a respective sidelink transmission. The device can estimate the channel occupancy of a sidelink channel of a second RAT based on measurements obtained over a total number of resources and the resource reservation messages.

  • The patent/application focuses on techniques for enabling coexistence of different radio access technologies (RATs) in sidelink communication.
  • A wireless communication device is configured to receive resource reservation messages using a first RAT.
  • Each resource reservation message identifies resources of a sidelink channel for a respective sidelink transmission using the first RAT.
  • The device estimates the channel occupancy of a sidelink channel of a second RAT based on measurements obtained over a total number of resources and the resource reservation messages.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Enabling coexistence of different radio access technologies (RATs) in sidelink communication.
  • Improving the efficiency and reliability of sidelink communication in wireless networks.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Co-channel interference between different radio access technologies (RATs) in sidelink communication.
  • Ensuring efficient utilization of resources in sidelink communication.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced coexistence of different radio access technologies (RATs) in sidelink communication.
  • Improved efficiency and reliability of sidelink communication in wireless networks.
  • Optimal utilization of resources in sidelink communication.

Original Abstract Submitted

Aspects relate to techniques for enabling co-channel coexistence in different radio access technologies (RATs) for sidelink communication. A wireless communication device may be configured to receive at least one resource reservation message using a first RAT. For example, each resource reservation message may identify at least one resource of a plurality of resources of a sidelink channel for a respective sidelink transmission using the first RAT. The wireless communication device may further be configured to estimate a channel occupancy of the sidelink channel of a second RAT based on measurements obtained over a total number of the plurality of resources and the at least one resource reservation message.
