FILTERING V2X SENSOR DATA MESSAGES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17879877 titled 'FILTERING V2X SENSOR DATA MESSAGES

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes techniques for filtering object detection information received through V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication links. The method involves receiving a message from a first vehicle containing sensor data and detected object data, where the detected object data is organized into data groups and the host data includes indexing information for these data groups. The method further includes determining the operating context for a second vehicle and filtering the data groups based on the operating context and the indexing information.

  • Techniques for filtering object detection information in V2X communication links
  • Sensor data sharing message received from a first vehicle
  • Detected object data organized into data groups
  • Host data includes indexing information for the data groups
  • Operating context for a second vehicle determined
  • Data groups filtered based on the operating context and indexing information

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Enhancing safety in autonomous vehicles by filtering relevant object detection information based on the operating context
  • Improving efficiency in V2X communication by reducing the amount of irrelevant data transmitted between vehicles
  • Enabling better decision-making in connected vehicles by providing filtered and contextually relevant object detection information

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Overload of object detection information in V2X communication can lead to information overload and inefficiency
  • Irrelevant object detection data can distract autonomous vehicles or cause unnecessary processing
  • Filtering the object detection information based on the operating context helps prioritize relevant data and improve decision-making

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved safety in autonomous vehicles by focusing on relevant object detection information
  • Enhanced efficiency in V2X communication by reducing data transmission and processing overhead
  • Better decision-making in connected vehicles by providing contextually relevant object detection information

Original Abstract Submitted

Techniques are provided for filtering object detection information provided via V2X communication links. An example method for filtering detected object data includes receiving a sensor data sharing message associated with a first vehicle including host data and detected object data, wherein the detected object data is organized into one or more data groups and the host data includes indexing information associated with the one or more data groups, determining an operating context for a second vehicle, and filtering the one or more of data groups based at least in part on the operating context for the second vehicle and the indexing information associated with the one or more data groups.
