RESOURCE CONFIGURATION FOR FULL-DUPLEX COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17878856 titled 'RESOURCE CONFIGURATION FOR FULL-DUPLEX COMMUNICATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a method for a user equipment (UE) to determine whether to transmit or receive on a specific sub-band during a communication period. The UE can use a resource configuration or a bit map provided by a network entity to make this determination.

  • The patent application proposes a method for a UE to decide whether to transmit or receive on a sub-band during a communication period.
  • The UE can use a resource configuration or a bit map provided by a network entity to determine its transmission or reception on a specific sub-band.
  • The resource configuration indicates how half-duplex and full-duplex transmissions are configured over a period of time.
  • The bit map shows the allocation of sub-bands for full-duplex transmissions during a communication period.
  • The UE can follow a defined rule based on the resource configuration or bit map to make its transmission or reception decision.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Cellular networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Wireless sensor networks

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient allocation of sub-bands for full-duplex transmissions
  • Optimizing resource usage in wireless communication systems
  • Improving overall system capacity and throughput

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced communication efficiency
  • Improved utilization of available resources
  • Increased system capacity and throughput
  • Better performance in wireless networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

A user equipment (UE) may use a resource configuration to determine whether to transmit or receive on a particular sub-band during a given communication period (e.g., a time slot or a symbol duration). In some examples, a network entity provides a bit map to a UE where the bit map indicates how sub-bands for a given communication period are allocated for full-duplex transmissions. The UE may then determine, based on the bit map, whether to transmit or receive on a particular sub-band. In some examples, a network entity provides a resource configuration to a UE where the resource configuration indicates how half-duplex transmissions and full-duplex transmissions are configured over a period of time. In this case, the UE may be configured by a defined rule to determine, based on the resource configuration, whether to transmit or receive on a particular sub-band.
