ENERGY SAVING MODE PATTERNS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17877570 titled 'ENERGY SAVING MODE PATTERNS

Simplified Explanation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a User Equipment (UE) are described in this patent application. The UE receives first control signaling that indicates an energy-saving mode pattern and the respective durations over which a network entity will operate in these energy-saving modes for transmissions in multiple slots. The energy-saving mode pattern is based on the slot types of the slots.

The UE also receives second control signaling that schedules one or more data signals to be communicated between the UE and the network entity during a scheduled duration that partially overlaps with at least one of the durations mentioned earlier. The UE then communicates the data signals during the scheduled duration according to the energy-saving mode pattern.

  • The patent application describes a method for wireless communications that allows a UE to operate in energy-saving modes based on slot types.
  • The UE receives control signaling indicating the energy-saving mode pattern and durations from the network entity.
  • The UE also receives control signaling that schedules data signals to be communicated during a scheduled duration that overlaps with the energy-saving mode durations.
  • The UE communicates the data signals according to the energy-saving mode pattern during the scheduled duration.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in cellular networks to improve energy efficiency in User Equipment.
  • It can be used in IoT devices to optimize power consumption during wireless communications.
  • The technology can be implemented in smart home devices to enhance battery life and reduce energy consumption.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The technology addresses the issue of excessive power consumption in wireless communications.
  • It solves the problem of inefficient energy usage in User Equipment.
  • The technology helps in reducing the environmental impact of wireless communications by optimizing energy consumption.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved battery life in User Equipment, leading to longer usage times.
  • Enhanced energy efficiency in wireless communications, reducing the need for frequent recharging.
  • Reduced energy consumption and environmental impact in wireless networks.
  • Increased reliability and stability of wireless communications due to optimized energy usage.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may receive first control signaling indicating an energy saving mode pattern of energy saving modes of a network entity and one or more respective durations over which the network entity is to operate in the energy saving modes for transmissions in a plurality of slots, the energy saving mode pattern based at least in part on one or more slot types of the plurality of slots. The UE may receive second control signaling scheduling one or more data signals to be communicated between the UE and the network entity during a scheduled duration that at least partially overlaps with at least one of the one or more durations. The UE may communicate the one or more data signals during the scheduled duration in accordance with the energy saving mode pattern.
