Device And Method For Detecting Miniature Targets In A Fluid Sample - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17876695 titled 'Device And Method For Detecting Miniature Targets In A Fluid Sample
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a patent application for a substrate with a sensing transistor and voltage reference transistors on one side, and a structure with openings for collecting fluid on the opposite side. The sensing transistor detects the presence of miniature targets in the fluid through capacitive coupling with a sensing film.
- The substrate has a sensing transistor and voltage reference transistors on one side.
- The voltage reference transistors are located on different lateral sides of the sensing transistor.
- A structure with openings is placed on the opposite side of the substrate.
- The openings are designed to collect fluid.
- A sensing film is placed on the opposite side of the substrate.
- The sensing transistor detects the presence of miniature targets in the fluid through capacitive coupling with the sensing film.
Potential Applications:
- Medical diagnostics: The technology could be used to detect specific biomarkers or pathogens in bodily fluids.
- Environmental monitoring: It could be used to detect pollutants or contaminants in water or air samples.
- Industrial process control: The technology could be used to monitor the presence of specific substances in manufacturing processes.
Problems Solved:
- Improved sensing capabilities: The capacitive coupling allows for sensitive detection of miniature targets in the fluid.
- Versatile substrate design: The arrangement of the sensing and reference transistors on one side and the fluid collection structure on the other side allows for efficient and accurate detection.
Benefits:
- Enhanced sensitivity: The capacitive coupling enables the detection of even small quantities of targets in the fluid.
- Easy integration: The substrate design allows for easy integration into various devices or systems.
- Reliable detection: The arrangement of the sensing and reference transistors improves the accuracy and reliability of the detection process.
Original Abstract Submitted
A substrate has a first side and a second side vertically opposite to the first side. A sensing transistor is disposed at least in part over the first side of the substrate. A plurality of voltage reference transistors is disposed at least in part over the first side of the substrate. The voltage reference transistors are disposed on different lateral sides of the sensing transistor. A structure is disposed over the second side of the substrate. The structure defines one or more openings configured to collect a fluid. A sensing film is disposed over the second side of the substrate, wherein the sensing transistor is configured to detect, at least in part through capacitive coupling, a presence of one or more predefined miniature targets in the fluid that attach to the sensing film in the opening that is vertically aligned with the sensing transistor.
