RESOURCE PATTERN CONFIGURATION WITHIN A SLOT FOR SIDELINK COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17876439 titled 'RESOURCE PATTERN CONFIGURATION WITHIN A SLOT FOR SIDELINK COMMUNICATION

Simplified Explanation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in this patent application. The techniques described involve configuring multiple resource patterns for one or more user equipments (UEs) to use for transmitting sidelink signals over a quantity of transmission time intervals (TTIs) within a slot.

  • UEs can determine a resource pattern to use for transmitting sidelink signals based on various factors such as an assignment from a network entity, an initial frequency offset, information included in control signaling, or a combination of these factors.
  • The UE may transmit an indication of the resource pattern used via the sidelink channel, allowing other UEs in the system to determine the resource pattern used by the UE.
  • The UE can then transmit a sidelink signal in accordance with the determined resource pattern, while other UEs may use different resource patterns for sidelink transmissions within the same slot.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems where multiple UEs need to transmit sidelink signals within the same slot.
  • It can be used in various scenarios such as vehicle-to-vehicle communication, Internet of Things (IoT) devices communicating with each other, or any other situation where multiple UEs need to exchange information over a wireless network.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • This technology solves the problem of efficiently allocating resources for sidelink transmissions in wireless communication systems.
  • By allowing UEs to use different resource patterns within a slot, it enables simultaneous sidelink transmissions without interference.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The use of multiple resource patterns allows for increased capacity and efficiency in wireless communication systems.
  • It enables better utilization of available resources, reducing interference and improving overall system performance.
  • The ability to indicate and determine the resource pattern used by UEs allows for coordination and synchronization among UEs in the system.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for a configuration of multiple resource patterns for one or more user equipments (UEs) to use for transmission of sidelink signals over a quantity of transmission time intervals (TTIs) (e.g., sub-slots) within a slot. For example, a UE may determine a resource pattern to use for transmitting sidelink signals based on an assignment from a network entity, an initial frequency offset, information included in control signaling, or any combination thereof. In some examples, the UE may transmit, via the sidelink channel, an indication of the resource pattern used by the UE, such that other UEs in the system may determine the resource pattern used by the UE. The UE may transmit a sidelink signal in accordance with the resource pattern, while other UEs may use other resource patterns for sidelink transmissions within the same slot.
