INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM MOUSE WITH AN ACOUSTIC ISOLATION ENCLOSURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17875920 titled 'INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM MOUSE WITH AN ACOUSTIC ISOLATION ENCLOSURE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an information handling system mouse that includes an acoustic isolation enclosure. The enclosure is positioned near a switch and can be adjusted between a first position that suppresses the sound of the switch and a second position that directs the sound of the switch away from the mouse. The enclosure consists of two portions, with the first portion fixed around the switch and the second portion sliding against the first portion. The second portion has an opening that is blocked in the first position and exposed in the second position.

  • The patent application describes an information handling system mouse with an acoustic isolation enclosure.
  • The enclosure can be adjusted to either suppress or direct the sound of the switch.
  • The enclosure consists of two portions, with the second portion sliding against the first portion.
  • The second portion has an opening that is blocked in one position and exposed in the other position.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be applied to computer mice used in quiet environments, such as libraries or offices, where minimizing noise is important.
  • It can also be used in gaming mice to reduce distracting switch sounds during gameplay.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology solves the problem of switch actuation sound in computer mice, which can be disruptive in quiet environments.
  • It provides a solution for users who prefer a quieter mouse experience.

Benefits:

  • The acoustic isolation enclosure allows users to customize the sound output of the mouse.
  • It provides a quieter mouse experience, reducing potential distractions in quiet environments.
  • The adjustable enclosure allows users to switch between a suppressed sound and a directed sound, providing flexibility in different usage scenarios.

Original Abstract Submitted

An information handling system mouse includes an acoustic isolation enclosure coupled proximate a switch and having a first position that suppress actuation sound of the switch and a second position that directs actuation sound of the switch out from the mouse. In one embodiment, the acoustic isolation enclosure has a first portion in a fixed position around the switch and a second portion in sliding engagement with the first portion and having an opening that is blocked in the first position and exposed in the second position.
