METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENHANCED CONFIGURATION AND CONTROL IN ULTRA-WIDEBAND (UWB) SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17875883 titled 'METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENHANCED CONFIGURATION AND CONTROL IN ULTRA-WIDEBAND (UWB) SYSTEMS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods and systems for handling communication in an ultra-wideband (UWB) system. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • A first electronic device discovers one or more second electronic devices to be connected to the UWB system.
  • The first electronic device determines if the discovered second electronic devices are within the on-boarding range.
  • The first electronic device configures information to the discovered second electronic devices using a connectionless message.
  • The first electronic device establishes communication with the discovered second electronic devices in the UWB system.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices: This technology can be used to easily connect and configure IoT devices within a UWB system.
  • Smart homes: It can simplify the process of adding new smart devices to a home automation system.
  • Industrial automation: The technology can be applied to quickly onboard and configure new devices in industrial settings.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Simplified onboarding process: The technology eliminates the need for complex setup procedures when connecting new devices to a UWB system.
  • Efficient communication: The connectionless message allows for quick configuration of information to the discovered devices.
  • Seamless integration: The technology ensures smooth communication between the first and second electronic devices in the UWB system.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Time-saving: The simplified onboarding process saves time and effort when connecting new devices.
  • User-friendly: The technology provides a seamless and user-friendly experience for setting up and configuring devices.
  • Scalability: It allows for easy expansion of the UWB system by adding new devices without significant setup complexity.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and systems are provided for handling communication in ultra-wideband (UWB) system. A first electronic device discovers at least one second electronic device to be on-boarded. The method and system perform at least one of determining, by the first electronic device, that the at least one discovered second electronic device is within an on-boarding range, and configuring information to the at least one discovered second electronic device by a connectionless message. The first electronic device establishes the communication with the at least one discovered second electronic device in the UWB system.
