VEHICLE BATTERY PACK MOUNTING STRUCTURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17875056 titled 'VEHICLE BATTERY PACK MOUNTING STRUCTURE

Simplified Explanation

The vehicle battery pack mounting structure described in this patent application includes several components to securely mount a battery pack to a vehicle body. These components include a coupling bolt, a mounting bushing, lower and upper fixation nuts, and sealing members.

  • The coupling bolt is connected to the vehicle body through the battery pack.
  • The mounting bushing accommodates the coupling bolt and is attached to the battery pack.
  • The lower fixation nut fixes the lower portion of the mounting bushing to the lower casing.
  • The upper fixation nut fixes the upper portion of the mounting bushing to the upper cover.
  • A lower sealing member is used to seal between the mounting bushing and the lower casing when the lower fixation nut is fastened.
  • An upper sealing member is used to seal between the mounting bushing and the upper cover when the upper fixation nut is fastened.
  • A vehicle body side sealing member seals between the upper fixation nut and the vehicle body when the coupling bolt is fastened.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Electric vehicles: This mounting structure can be used to securely attach battery packs to electric vehicles, ensuring their stability and safety during operation.
  • Hybrid vehicles: The structure can also be applied to hybrid vehicles that have both an internal combustion engine and a battery pack, providing a reliable mounting solution for the battery component.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Secure mounting: The structure ensures that the battery pack is securely attached to the vehicle body, preventing any movement or detachment during vehicle operation.
  • Sealing: The sealing members prevent any leakage or ingress of contaminants into the battery pack, protecting its internal components from damage.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Stability: The secure mounting structure enhances the stability of the battery pack, reducing the risk of damage or malfunction during vehicle operation.
  • Safety: The sealing members help maintain the integrity of the battery pack, preventing any potential hazards associated with leakage or contamination.
  • Easy installation: The use of fixation nuts and sealing members simplifies the installation process, making it more efficient and convenient for assembly line workers.

Original Abstract Submitted

A vehicle battery pack mounting structure includes: a coupling bolt coupled to a vehicle body through a battery pack; a mounting bushing accommodating the coupling bolt therein and coupled to the battery pack; a lower fixation nut fixing a lower portion of the mounting bushing to the lower casing; an upper fixation nut fixing an upper portion of the mounting bushing to the upper cover; and a lower sealing member. The lower sealing member is configured to seal between the mounting bushing and the lower casing in response to fastening of the lower fixation nut. In addition, the vehicle battery pack mounting structure further includes an upper sealing member configured to seal between the mounting bushing and the upper cover in response to fastening of the upper fixation nut. The vehicle battery pack mounting structure also includes a vehicle body side sealing member sealing between the upper fixation nut and the vehicle body in response to the fastening of the coupling bolt.
