VEHICLE BATTERY PACK MOUNTING STRUCTURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17875056 titled 'VEHICLE BATTERY PACK MOUNTING STRUCTURE

Simplified Explanation

The vehicle battery pack mounting structure described in the patent application includes several components such as a coupling bolt, a mounting bushing, fixation nuts, and sealing members. These components work together to securely mount the battery pack to the vehicle body and provide effective sealing.

  • The coupling bolt is connected to the vehicle body through the battery pack.
  • The mounting bushing accommodates the coupling bolt and is attached to the battery pack.
  • The lower fixation nut fixes the lower portion of the mounting bushing to the lower casing.
  • The upper fixation nut fixes the upper portion of the mounting bushing to the upper cover.
  • The lower sealing member seals between the mounting bushing and the lower casing when the lower fixation nut is fastened.
  • The upper sealing member seals between the mounting bushing and the upper cover when the upper fixation nut is fastened.
  • The vehicle body side sealing member seals between the upper fixation nut and the vehicle body when the coupling bolt is fastened.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This vehicle battery pack mounting structure can be used in electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles that require a secure and sealed attachment of the battery pack to the vehicle body.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The structure provides a reliable and secure mounting of the battery pack, preventing any movement or detachment during vehicle operation.
  • The sealing members ensure effective sealing between the various components, preventing any leakage or ingress of dust, water, or other contaminants.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The secure mounting and effective sealing provided by this structure enhance the safety and reliability of the vehicle's battery pack.
  • The structure helps to protect the battery pack from external elements, prolonging its lifespan and maintaining its performance.
  • The simplified design and assembly of the mounting structure may result in cost savings during manufacturing and maintenance processes.

Original Abstract Submitted

A vehicle battery pack mounting structure includes: a coupling bolt coupled to a vehicle body through a battery pack; a mounting bushing accommodating the coupling bolt therein and coupled to the battery pack; a lower fixation nut fixing a lower portion of the mounting bushing to the lower casing; an upper fixation nut fixing an upper portion of the mounting bushing to the upper cover; and a lower sealing member. The lower sealing member is configured to seal between the mounting bushing and the lower casing in response to fastening of the lower fixation nut. In addition, the vehicle battery pack mounting structure further includes an upper sealing member configured to seal between the mounting bushing and the upper cover in response to fastening of the upper fixation nut. The vehicle battery pack mounting structure also includes a vehicle body side sealing member sealing between the upper fixation nut and the vehicle body in response to the fastening of the coupling bolt.
