HANDHELD PRINTING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17874408 titled 'HANDHELD PRINTING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a printing apparatus that includes various components to guide its movement and print images onto a print medium. It also includes a detection unit to measure the relative movement between the printing apparatus and the print medium, and a control unit to trigger a notification based on certain conditions.

  • The printing apparatus has a guide unit to assist the user in moving it in a specific direction.
  • A printing unit is included to print images onto a print medium while moving in the specified direction.
  • A second guide unit is present to guide the movement of the printing apparatus in a direction perpendicular to the first direction.
  • A detection unit is used to measure the relative movement between the printing apparatus and the print medium.
  • A control unit is responsible for triggering a notification through a notification unit based on the distance between the printing unit and the detection unit in the first direction and the completion of printing a single line.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This printing apparatus can be used in various industries such as graphic design, advertising, and packaging.
  • It can be utilized for printing high-quality images on different types of print media, including paper, fabric, and plastic.
  • The apparatus can be integrated into existing printing systems or used as a standalone device for on-the-go printing needs.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The printing apparatus provides a user-friendly and efficient way to print images onto a print medium.
  • It ensures accurate and precise printing by detecting the relative movement between the printing apparatus and the print medium.
  • The notification system helps the user know when a specific printing operation is completed, improving workflow and productivity.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The printing apparatus simplifies the printing process by providing guidance and control over the movement of the device.
  • It allows for precise and high-quality printing, reducing errors and wastage of print media.
  • The notification system enhances user experience by providing timely updates on the printing progress and completion.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a printing apparatus including: a guide unit configured to guide movement, in a first direction, of the printing apparatus held and moved by a user; a printing unit configured to print an image onto a print medium with the movement in the first direction; a second guide unit configured to guide movement of the printing apparatus in a second direction crossing the first direction; a detection unit configured to detect a relative moving amount between the printing apparatus and the print medium; and a control unit configured to cause a notification unit to make a predetermined notification according to a first distance in the first direction between the printing unit and the detection unit and a position at which an operation of printing a single line by the printing unit is completed.
