METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INSTANTIATING COMPOSED INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEMS WITH PLUGINS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17872979 titled 'METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INSTANTIATING COMPOSED INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEMS WITH PLUGINS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for instantiating composed information handling systems. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The method involves obtaining a composition request to instantiate a composed information handling system.
  • The composition request specifies the computing resources and hardware resources required.
  • The method identifies compute resource sets and hardware resource sets that match the composition request.
  • Management services are set up based on plugin requirements associated with the composition request, using control resource sets.
  • The method then initiates the instantiation of the composed information handling system using the management services.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Cloud computing: The method can be used to efficiently instantiate composed information handling systems in cloud environments.
  • Virtualization: The method can be applied to instantiate virtualized information handling systems with specific resource requirements.
  • Data centers: The method can be used to automate the instantiation of composed information handling systems in data center environments.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Resource matching: The method solves the problem of efficiently identifying compute and hardware resource sets that match the composition request.
  • Management service setup: The method automates the setup of management services based on plugin requirements, reducing manual configuration efforts.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Efficiency: The method improves the efficiency of instantiating composed information handling systems by automating resource matching and management service setup.
  • Scalability: The method can handle a large number of composition requests, making it suitable for scalable environments like cloud computing.
  • Flexibility: The method allows for customization of composed information handling systems based on specific resource requirements.

Original Abstract Submitted

Techniques described herein relate to a method for instantiating composed information handling systems. The method includes obtaining, by a system control processor manager, a composition request to instantiate a composed information handling system; in response to obtaining the composition request: identifying at least one compute resource set having computing resources specified by the composition request; identifying at least one hardware resource set having the hardware resources specified by the composition request; setting up management services based on plugin requirements associated with the composition request using an at least one control resource set; and initiating the instantiation of the composed information handling system using the management services.
