STORAGE MEDIUM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND CONTROL METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17869663 titled 'STORAGE MEDIUM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND CONTROL METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for arranging image data on a printing medium based on the type of printer being used. The method determines whether to generate image data with or without margins based on the identified printer type and print settings.

  • The method determines if the printer type is a large-format printer or a small-format printer.
  • If the printer type is a large-format printer, the method generates image data without appending margins.
  • If the printer type is a small-format printer and borderless printing is selected, the method generates image data with appended margins.
  • The determination is based on printer type information and print setting information.

Potential Applications

  • Printing industry: This method can be used in the printing industry to ensure that the image data is arranged correctly on different types of printers.
  • Graphic design: Graphic designers can benefit from this method by easily adapting their designs to different printer types and print settings.

Problems Solved

  • Incompatibility between printer types: Different printers may require different arrangements of image data, and this method solves the problem of obtaining the desired print product regardless of the printer type.
  • Margins and borderless printing: This method addresses the issue of determining whether to include margins or not based on the printer type and print settings, ensuring accurate printing results.

Benefits

  • Improved print quality: By generating image data specifically tailored to the printer type, this method helps achieve optimal print quality.
  • User convenience: Users can easily obtain the desired print product without worrying about compatibility issues between their chosen printer and the image data.
  • Time and cost savings: By automatically determining the appropriate processing for generating image data, this method saves time and reduces the need for manual adjustments.

Original Abstract Submitted

Arrangement processing for arranging image data on a printing medium can differ according to a printer type, and it may not be possible to obtain the print product intended by a user. A method is provided that includes determining, at a processor configured to perform the determining, to perform processing for generating image data without appending margins in a case where the printer type is identified to be a large-format printer based on printer type information, and determining, at the processor configured to perform the determining, to perform processing for generating the image data with appended margins in a case where the printer type is identified to be a small-format printer based on the printer type information and borderless printing is identified to be executed based on print setting information.
