ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING WATERPROOF MEMBER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17862719 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING WATERPROOF MEMBER

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device with a waterproof feature. Here are the key points:

  • The device has a housing with two openings on one side.
  • A tray can be inserted or extracted through the first opening.
  • The second opening has a waterproof member that moves back and forth.
  • The waterproof member includes a pin that moves within the second opening.
  • The pin has waterproof rings that seal the space between the pin and the inner wall of the second opening.
  • The second opening is inclined in relation to the direction of tray insertion/extraction.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Mobile phones, tablets, or other electronic devices that need waterproofing.
  • Outdoor equipment like cameras or GPS devices that require protection from water.
  • Medical devices that need to be waterproof for use in wet environments.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Protects electronic devices from water damage.
  • Ensures that the tray insertion/extraction mechanism remains waterproof.
  • Prevents water from entering the device through the second opening.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Provides a waterproof feature without compromising the functionality of the device.
  • Allows for easy insertion and extraction of the tray.
  • Reduces the risk of water damage to the electronic components.
  • Enables the use of electronic devices in wet or outdoor environments.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device includes a housing including a side wall having a first opening and a second opening provided at one side of the first opening; a tray configured to be inserted into or extracted from the housing through the first opening; and a waterproof member provided in the second opening and configured to reciprocate linearly, wherein the waterproof member includes: a pin member configured to linearly reciprocate within the second opening; and at least one waterproof ring protruding from an outer peripheral surface of the pin member and sealing a space between the outer peripheral surface of the pin member and an inner wall of the second opening, and wherein the second opening extends at an incline with respect to a direction in which the tray is inserted or extracted.
