PERFORMING CARRIER SWITCHING WITH FALLBACK CONTROL INFORMATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17855864 titled 'PERFORMING CARRIER SWITCHING WITH FALLBACK CONTROL INFORMATION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE). The UE can identify if carrier switching is enabled for a physical uplink control channel and receive a control signal without an indication for carrier switching. The UE then monitors for a downlink transmission on a primary serving cell and selects one of the serving cells to transmit feedback information based on the enabled carrier switching.

  • The patent application focuses on wireless communication at a user equipment (UE).
  • The UE can identify if carrier switching is enabled for a physical uplink control channel.
  • The UE receives a control signal without an indication for carrier switching.
  • The UE monitors for a downlink transmission on a primary serving cell.
  • The UE selects one of the serving cells to transmit feedback information based on the enabled carrier switching.
  • The feedback information is transmitted to the network entity in accordance with the selection.

Potential Applications

  • Wireless communication systems and devices
  • User equipment (UE) in cellular networks
  • Carrier switching in wireless networks

Problems Solved

  • Efficient carrier switching in wireless communication
  • Seamless transmission of feedback information in carrier-switching scenarios

Benefits

  • Improved performance and reliability of wireless communication
  • Enhanced user experience with seamless carrier switching
  • Efficient utilization of serving cells in wireless networks

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) are described. A UE may identify that carrier switching is enabled at the UE for a physical uplink control channel and may receive a control signal that lacks an indication for carrier switching. The UE may monitor for a downlink transmission on a primary serving cell of a set of serving cells in a physical uplink control channel group. The UE may then select one of the set of serving cells to transmit feedback information for the downlink transmission, where the selecting is based on carrier switching being enabled at the UE while the control signal lacks the indication for carrier switching. The UE may transmit, to the network entity, the feedback information for the downlink transmission in accordance with the selecting.
