SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCTION OF DATA TRANSMISSION BY INFERENCE MODEL OPTIMIZATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17850522 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCTION OF DATA TRANSMISSION BY INFERENCE MODEL OPTIMIZATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes methods and systems for managing the distribution of inference models in a distributed system. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The system includes a data aggregator and one or more data collectors.
  • The data aggregator obtains a threshold that indicates an acceptable inference error rate for an inference model.
  • The data aggregator obtains an inference model based on the threshold through training, lookup in an inference model lookup table, or other methods.
  • The data aggregator optimizes the inference model to minimize the computing resources required while still generating accurate inferences within the threshold.
  • This optimization is achieved by simulating the operation of more computationally-costly and less computationally-costly inference models.

Potential Applications:

  • Distributed systems that require accurate inference models.
  • Machine learning applications where inference models need to be distributed across multiple nodes.
  • Systems that need to optimize computing resources while maintaining inference accuracy.

Problems Solved:

  • Managing the distribution of inference models in a distributed system.
  • Optimizing computing resources while maintaining accurate inferences.
  • Determining the minimum quantity of computing resources required for accurate inferences.

Benefits:

  • Efficient utilization of computing resources.
  • Improved accuracy of inferences.
  • Scalability in distributed systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and systems for managing distribution of inference models throughout a distributed system are disclosed. To manage distribution of inference models, a system may include a data aggregator and one or more data collectors. The data aggregator may obtain a threshold, the threshold indicating an acceptable inference error rate for an inference model. The data aggregator may obtain an inference model based on the threshold by training an inference model, performing a lookup in an inference model lookup table, or via other methods. The data aggregator may optimize the inference model to determine the minimum quantity of computing resources consumed by an inference model in order to generate inferences accurate within the threshold. In order to do so, the data aggregator may simulate the operation of more computationally-costly inference models and less computationally-costly inference models.
