MOTOR DRIVING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17840776 titled 'MOTOR DRIVING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a motor driving apparatus that controls a motor with multiple windings using two inverters and a controller. The controller uses pulse width modulation to distribute a voltage command to the first and second inverters and generates duties for the switching elements. The controller determines the duties for the second switching elements and the duties for the first switching elements.

  • The motor driving apparatus controls a motor with multiple windings.
  • It uses a first inverter and a second inverter connected to the ends of each winding.
  • A controller controls pulse width modulation to distribute the voltage command to the inverters.
  • The controller generates duties for the switching elements of the inverters.
  • The controller determines the duties for the second switching elements and the duties for the first switching elements.

Original Abstract Submitted

A motor driving apparatus which drives a motor having a plurality of windings corresponding to a plurality of phases includes: a first inverter having a plurality of first switching elements and connected to a first end of each winding; a second inverter having a plurality of second switching elements and connected to a second end of each winding; and a controller configured to control pulse width modulation, by distributing a preset voltage command of the motor into a voltage command of the first inverter and a voltage command of the second inverter at the same rate and by generating duties of the first switching elements, wherein the controller determines the duties of the second switching elements and determines the duties of the first switching elements on and the duties of the first switching elements.
