SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUS FOR SMART MULTI-TIER POWER RUNNING BOARD WITH GROUND SENSING TECHNOLOGIES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17840299 titled 'SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUS FOR SMART MULTI-TIER POWER RUNNING BOARD WITH GROUND SENSING TECHNOLOGIES

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an apparatus, system, and method for a smart multi-tier power running board (PRB) with ground sensing technologies. The apparatus includes support bars, steps, an actuator, sensors, and a controller. The controller is responsible for obtaining data indicating a request to move the support bars, determining the deployed position based on sensor data, and controlling the actuator to move the support bars accordingly.

  • The apparatus includes support bars, steps, an actuator, sensors, and a controller.
  • The controller obtains data indicating a request to move the support bars from a stowed position to a deployed position.
  • Based on sensor data detected by the sensors, the controller determines the deployed position for moving the support bars.
  • The controller controls the actuator to move the support bars from the stowed position to the determined deployed position.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Automotive industry: This technology can be applied to vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, to provide a smart multi-tier power running board that automatically deploys when needed, making it easier for passengers to enter and exit the vehicle.
  • Accessibility: The technology can be used in buildings or public transportation to provide a smart multi-tier power running board that adjusts its position based on the ground level, making it more accessible for individuals with mobility challenges.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Inconvenience: The technology eliminates the need for manual deployment and retraction of running boards, providing a more convenient experience for vehicle passengers.
  • Safety: The ground sensing technologies ensure that the running boards are deployed at the correct position, reducing the risk of accidents or injuries.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced accessibility: The smart multi-tier power running board adjusts its position based on the ground level, making it easier for individuals with mobility challenges to enter and exit vehicles or buildings.
  • Improved convenience: The automated deployment and retraction of the running boards eliminate the need for manual operation, providing a seamless experience for users.
  • Increased safety: The ground sensing technologies ensure that the running boards are deployed at the appropriate position, minimizing the risk of accidents or injuries.

Original Abstract Submitted

An apparatus, a system, and a method for providing a smart multi-tier power running board (PRB) with ground sensing technologies. The apparatus includes one or more support bars, one or more steps, an actuator connected to one end of each support bar of the one or more support bars, one or more sensors, and a controller coupled to the actuator and the one or more sensors. The controller is configured to: obtain data indicative of a request to move the one or more support bars from a stowed position to a deployed position; determine, based on sensor data detected by the one or more sensors, the deployed position for moving the one or more support bars; and control, based on the determined deployed position, the actuator to move the one or more support bars from the stowed position to the deployed position.
