DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17840195 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display apparatus that includes different regions and circuits to control the display elements.

  • The display apparatus has a substrate with a first region and a second region.
  • The second region includes an outer pixel area that overlaps with an outer column, which is spaced apart from the first region.
  • The outer pixel area contains three types of pixel circuits: a first outer pixel circuit, a second outer pixel circuit, and an intermediate pixel circuit.
  • The first outer display element overlaps with a first inner column, which partially covers the first region, and is connected to the first outer pixel circuit.
  • The second outer display element overlaps with a second inner column and is connected to the second outer pixel circuit.
  • An intermediate display element overlaps with the outer pixel area and is connected to the intermediate pixel circuit.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices such as televisions, computer monitors, and mobile devices could benefit from this display apparatus.
  • It could be used in augmented reality or virtual reality headsets to provide high-quality and immersive visual experiences.
  • The technology could be applied in automotive displays to enhance the clarity and resolution of information displayed to the driver.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The display apparatus allows for improved control and management of the display elements, resulting in better image quality and accuracy.
  • By separating the display elements into different regions and circuits, the apparatus can handle complex visual information more efficiently.
  • The overlapping of display elements with specific columns ensures precise control and synchronization of pixel activation.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The display apparatus provides enhanced image quality, with improved color accuracy and contrast.
  • It allows for more efficient processing of visual information, resulting in smoother and more responsive displays.
  • The separation of display elements into different regions and circuits enables better control and customization of the display output.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes a substrate including a first region and a second region including an outer pixel area that overlaps an outer column spaced apart from the first region, a first outer pixel circuit, a second outer pixel circuit and an intermediate pixel circuit disposed in the outer pixel area, a first display element including a first outer display element and a second outer display element, wherein the first outer display element overlaps a first inner column overlapping at least a portion of the first region and is connected to the first outer pixel circuit, and the second outer display element overlaps a second inner column and is connected to the second outer pixel circuit, and a second display element including an intermediate display element overlapping the outer pixel area and connected to the intermediate pixel circuit.
