DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17839840 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device that includes normal display pixels, a boost display pixel with higher luminance, and a light-receiving pixel adjacent to the boost display pixel.

  • The display device consists of normal display pixels, a boost display pixel, and a light-receiving pixel.
  • The boost display pixel has a higher maximum luminance than the normal display pixels.
  • The light-receiving pixel is placed next to the boost display pixel.
  • Each pixel includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an active layer between them.
  • The first electrodes of all pixels are in the same layer.
  • The second electrodes of all pixels are connected together.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • High-resolution displays with enhanced brightness and contrast.
  • Displays for outdoor use with improved visibility in bright sunlight.
  • Virtual reality and augmented reality headsets with brighter and more vibrant visuals.
  • Medical imaging devices with higher luminance for accurate diagnosis.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Limited brightness and contrast of traditional display devices.
  • Difficulty in viewing displays in bright ambient light conditions.
  • Inadequate luminance for medical imaging devices.
  • Insufficient visual quality in virtual and augmented reality applications.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved visual experience with higher luminance and contrast.
  • Enhanced visibility in various lighting conditions.
  • Accurate and detailed medical imaging for better diagnosis.
  • Immersive and realistic virtual and augmented reality experiences.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a display device including a plurality of normal display pixel, one boost display pixel having a higher maximum luminance than the plurality of normal display pixels, and one light-receiving pixel disposed adjacent to the boost display pixel. Each of the normal display pixel, the boost display pixel, and the light-receiving pixel includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an active layer, which is interposed between the first and second electrodes. The first electrodes of the normal display pixel, the boost display pixel, and the light-receiving pixel are disposed in the same layer. The second electrodes of the normal display pixel, the boost display pixel, and the light-receiving pixel are integrally connected to one another.
