BEAM RESET IN MULTIPLE TRANSMIT RECEIVE POINT DEPLOYMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17822614 titled 'BEAM RESET IN MULTIPLE TRANSMIT RECEIVE POINT DEPLOYMENTS

Simplified Explanation

Abstract

The patent application relates to wireless communication and specifically to a method for managing beam failures in a user equipment (UE) device.

  • The UE receives configuration information that links a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state to a transmit receive point (TRP).
  • The UE detects a beam failure associated with the TRP.
  • The UE communicates with network devices to reset the beam for the TCI state, based on the TCI-TRP association.

Potential Applications

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Mobile networks
  • 5G and beyond networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Problems Solved

  • Beam failures can occur in wireless communication systems, leading to degraded performance or loss of connectivity.
  • This technology provides a method for identifying and managing beam failures, improving the reliability and performance of wireless communication.

Benefits

  • Improved reliability of wireless communication systems.
  • Enhanced performance and connectivity for user equipment devices.
  • Efficient management of beam failures, reducing downtime and improving user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive configuration information identifying an association between a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and a transmit receive point (TRP). The UE may identify a beam failure associated with the TRP. The UE may communicate with one or more network devices to reset a beam associated with the beam failure, for the TCI state, based at least in part on the association between the TCI and the TRP. Numerous other aspects are described.
