PREDICTIVE BEAM MANAGEMENT WITH PER-BEAM ERROR STATISTICS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17819534 titled 'PREDICTIVE BEAM MANAGEMENT WITH PER-BEAM ERROR STATISTICS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes schemes and mechanisms for beam prediction using per-beam error statistics in a wireless communication system.

  • A UE (User Equipment) receives a beam prediction configuration from a network.
  • The beam prediction configuration may be for a machine learning model or algorithm.
  • The UE receives error statistics for each of a plurality of beam directions.
  • Based on the error statistics, the UE identifies a first beam direction and transmits an uplink communication to the network in that direction.
  • The UE may also identify a second beam direction and transmit the uplink communication in a third beam direction different from the second direction.

Original Abstract Submitted

Schemes and mechanisms for beam prediction using per-beam error statistics are provided. A UE may receive, from a network, a beam prediction configuration. The beam prediction configuration may be for a machine learning model or algorithm. The UE may receive error statistics for each of a plurality of beam directions. Responsive to the UE identifying a first beam direction of the plurality of beam directions using the beam prediction configuration and based on the error statistics, the UE transmits an uplink (UL) communication to the network in the first beam direction. Responsive to the UE identifying a second beam direction of the plurality of beam directions using the beam prediction configuration and based on the error statistics, the UE transmits the UL communication to the network in a third beam direction different from the second beam direction.
