DOWNLINK MULTICAST RECEPTION FOR INACTIVE MODE USER EQUIPMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17817331 titled 'DOWNLINK MULTICAST RECEPTION FOR INACTIVE MODE USER EQUIPMENT

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure relates to wireless communication and specifically to transmitting capability information for multicast communication in an inactive mode. The user equipment (UE) can transmit capability information for either multicast physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) communication or multicast physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) communication in the inactive mode. The UE receives a configuration associated with the multicast PDCCH communication and receives the multicast PDCCH communication based on the configuration. The UE also receives the multicast PDSCH communication in the inactive mode based on the multicast PDCCH communication and the capability information.

  • The patent application is about transmitting capability information for multicast communication in an inactive mode in wireless communication.
  • The user equipment (UE) can transmit capability information for either multicast physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) communication or multicast physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) communication in the inactive mode.
  • The UE receives a configuration associated with the multicast PDCCH communication.
  • The UE receives the multicast PDCCH communication based on the configuration.
  • The UE receives the multicast PDSCH communication in the inactive mode based on the multicast PDCCH communication and the capability information.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Improved wireless communication in multicast scenarios.
  • Efficient transmission of capability information for multicast communication.
  • Enhanced performance of user equipment in inactive mode.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient transmission of capability information for multicast communication in an inactive mode.
  • Improved reception of multicast PDSCH communication based on the multicast PDCCH communication and capability information.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved efficiency and performance of wireless communication in multicast scenarios.
  • Enhanced user experience in terms of receiving multicast communication in an inactive mode.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit capability information regarding at least one of a multicast physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) communication for an inactive mode or a multicast physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) communication for the inactive mode. The UE may receive a configuration associated with the multicast PDCCH communication. The UE may receive the multicast PDCCH communication in accordance with the configuration. The UE may receive the multicast PDSCH communication in the inactive mode based at least in part on the multicast PDCCH communication, wherein at least one of the configuration, or the multicast PDSCH communication is based at least in part on the capability information. Numerous other aspects are described.
