SDCI MTRP UNIFIED TCI ACTIVATION DESIGN - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17816355 titled 'SDCI MTRP UNIFIED TCI ACTIVATION DESIGN

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a network node that can transmit RRC messages and MAC-CEs to a UE. These messages contain configurations of TCI states and codepoints, which are associated with TRPs. The network node can also transmit a single DCI message indicative of codepoints to the UE and communicate with it based on these codepoints.

  • The patent application describes a network node that can transmit RRC messages and MAC-CEs to a UE.
  • The RRC messages contain configurations of TCI states, while the MAC-CEs contain configurations of codepoints.
  • Each codepoint is associated with one or more TRPs in the network node.
  • The codepoints are associated with at least one first TCI state for uplink communication and at least one second TCI state for downlink communication.
  • The network node can transmit a single DCI message to the UE, which indicates at least one codepoint from the plurality of codepoints.
  • The network node can communicate with the UE based on the codepoints.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication networks
  • Cellular networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Mobile devices

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient transmission of RRC messages and MAC-CEs to a UE
  • Configuring TCI states and codepoints for communication
  • Effective communication between the network node and the UE

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved network efficiency
  • Enhanced communication reliability
  • Optimal utilization of network resources
  • Seamless communication between network node and UE

Original Abstract Submitted

A network node may transmit an RRC message to a UE. The RRC message may include a configuration of a plurality of TCI states. The network node may transmit one or more MAC-CEs to the UE. The one or more MAC-CEs may include a configuration of a plurality of codepoints. Each codepoint in the plurality of codepoints may be associated with one or more TRPs in a plurality of TRPs of the network node. The plurality of codepoints may be associated with at least one first TCI state for an uplink communication and at least one second TCI state for a downlink communication. The network node may transmit a single DCI message to the UE. The single DCI message may be indicative of at least one codepoint in the plurality of codepoints. The network node may communicate with the UE based on the at least one codepoint.
