METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PDCCH SKIPPING AND SCHEDULING REQUEST - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17813544 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PDCCH SKIPPING AND SCHEDULING REQUEST

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for improving data transmission rates in a 5G or 6G communication system. The method involves a terminal device in a wireless communication system.

  • The terminal device receives a message from a base station called a radio resource control (RRC) message. This message contains information about a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) skipping duration.
  • The terminal device also receives downlink control information (DCI) from the base station. This DCI indicates a PDCCH skipping for a serving cell of a cell group.
  • If a scheduling request (SR) is sent on the serving cell of the cell group and is pending, the terminal device ignores the PDCCH skipping on all serving cells of the cell group.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Improved data transmission rates in 5G and 6G communication systems.
  • Enhanced efficiency and performance of wireless communication networks.
  • Support for higher data throughput and faster communication speeds.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Overcoming limitations in data transmission rates in current wireless communication systems.
  • Addressing the challenge of efficiently managing and controlling downlink control channels in a cell group.
  • Optimizing the scheduling of requests and reducing delays in data transmission.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Higher data transmission rates and improved network performance.
  • Enhanced user experience with faster and more reliable communication.
  • Increased efficiency and capacity of wireless communication networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including information on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) skipping duration, receiving, from the base station, downlink control information (DCI) indicating a PDCCH skipping for a serving cell of a cell group, and ignoring the PDCCH skipping on all serving cells of the cell group, in case that a scheduling request (SR) is sent on the serving cell of the cell group and is pending.
