TOUCHPAD APPARATUS FOR AN INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17809287 titled 'TOUCHPAD APPARATUS FOR AN INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a touchpad apparatus that includes a holder bracket, a holder body, a plurality of elastic articles, and a touchpad printed circuit board (PCB). The touchpad PCB has a switch member positioned at one end.

  • The holder body can be in two positional states - a first state where the elastic articles are in a relaxed state and the switch member is disengaged, and a second state where the elastic articles are in an engaged state and the switch member is engaged.
  • The switch member provides a signal indicating the second positional state of the holder body.
  • The touchpad apparatus is designed to provide a touch-sensitive input interface.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Touchpad devices for laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Touch-sensitive control panels for appliances and electronics.
  • Interactive displays and kiosks.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a mechanism to detect the positional state of the holder body.
  • Enables touch-sensitive input functionality.
  • Allows for easy integration into various devices and systems.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Simplifies the design and construction of touchpad devices.
  • Provides a reliable and accurate touch input interface.
  • Can be easily incorporated into existing devices and systems.
  • Offers flexibility in terms of size and form factor.

Original Abstract Submitted

A touchpad apparatus including a holder bracket; a holder body; a plurality of elastic articles; and a touchpad printed circuit board (PCB) coupled to the first side of the holder body, the touchpad PCB including a switch member positioned at a first end of the touchpad PCB, wherein, when the holder body is in a first positional state, the plurality of elastic articles are in a first elastic state such that the switch member is disengaged, wherein, when the holder body is in a second positional state, the plurality of elastic articles are in a second elastic state such that the switch member is engaged to provide a signal indicating the second positional state of the holder body.
