MAIZE INBRED 1PZWP34 - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17807455 titled 'MAIZE INBRED 1PZWP34

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a novel maize variety designated 1PZWP34 and methods for producing maize plants with specific traits through crossing and backcrossing techniques.

  • Maize variety 1PZWP34 and its seeds, plants, and plant parts are provided in the patent application.
  • Methods for producing maize plants with desired traits by crossing 1PZWP34 with another maize plant are outlined.
  • The patent application also covers methods for introducing specific traits into 1PZWP34 through backcross conversion and/or transformation.
  • Hybrid maize seeds, plants, or plant parts can be obtained by crossing 1PZWP34 or a locus conversion of 1PZWP34 with another maize variety.

Potential Applications

The technology described in the patent application could be applied in agriculture for improving maize crops by introducing desired traits into the plants.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in developing maize plants with specific traits, which can lead to increased yield, resistance to pests or diseases, and improved overall quality of the crop.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include the potential for higher productivity, better crop resilience, and enhanced quality of maize produce.

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could have commercial applications in the agricultural industry for seed companies, farmers, and researchers looking to develop improved maize varieties.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be the use of traditional breeding techniques to develop new maize varieties with specific traits. However, the specific methods and traits introduced in 1PZWP34 may be novel and not covered by existing prior art.

Unanswered Questions

How does the introduction of specific traits into maize plants impact their overall growth and development?

The patent application mentions the introduction of traits into maize plants, but it does not provide detailed information on how these traits affect the growth and development of the plants.

What are the potential environmental implications of cultivating maize plants with specific traits?

The patent application focuses on the technical aspects of developing maize plants with desired traits, but it does not address the potential environmental impacts of cultivating these genetically modified crops.

Original Abstract Submitted

A novel maize variety designated 1PZWP34 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant comprise crossing maize variety 1PZWP34 with another maize plant are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into 1PZWP34 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are provided. Hybrid maize seed, plants or plant parts are produced by crossing the variety 1PZWP34 or a locus conversion of 1PZWP34 with another maize variety.
