METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17802492 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application discloses a method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving channel state information (CSI) in a wireless communication system. The method involves the following steps:

  • Receiving configuration information related to the CSI from a base station.
  • Receiving one or more reference signal (RS) resources transmitted from the base station through different downlink spatial domain transmission filters.
  • Transmitting the CSI, including a layer 1 signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (L1-SINR) generated based on the received RS resources, back to the base station.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems: The disclosed method and apparatus can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, to improve the transmission and reception of channel state information.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient CSI transmission: The disclosed method provides an efficient way to transmit channel state information by utilizing reference signal resources and downlink spatial domain transmission filters. This helps in accurately estimating the channel conditions and optimizing the wireless communication system's performance.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved system performance: By accurately estimating the channel state information, the wireless communication system can optimize its resource allocation, power control, and interference management, leading to improved overall system performance.
  • Enhanced user experience: The accurate channel state information allows for better signal quality, reduced interference, and improved data rates, resulting in an enhanced user experience in terms of faster and more reliable wireless communication.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed are a method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving channel state information in a wireless communication system. A method for transmitting channel state information (CSI) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may comprise the steps of: receiving configuration information related to the CSI from a base station; receiving one or more reference signal (RS) resources transmitted from the base station through different downlink spatial domain transmission filters; and transmitting, to the base station, the CSI including a layer 1 signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (L1-SINR) generated on the basis of the one or more RS resources.
