METHODS, APPARATUS AND SYSTEMS FOR SLICE-SPECIFIC AUTHENTICATION AND AUTHORIZATION IN NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17799494 titled 'METHODS, APPARATUS AND SYSTEMS FOR SLICE-SPECIFIC AUTHENTICATION AND AUTHORIZATION IN NETWORK
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a method for a User Equipment (UE) to perform a Network Slice-Specific Authentication and Authorization (NSSAA) procedure in a network. The method involves the UE initiating a first procedure by sending a message to a first network entity. The UE then receives a second message from the first network entity. The method includes determining if a predefined condition is met, which includes checking if the second message contains a specific indication. Based on this condition, the method determines whether to block or restrict one or more additional procedures.
- The method is used by a UE to perform a Network Slice-Specific Authentication and Authorization (NSSAA) procedure.
- The UE initiates the procedure by sending a message to a first network entity.
- The UE receives a second message from the first network entity.
- The method checks if a predefined condition is met, which includes checking if the second message contains a specific indication.
- Based on the condition, the method decides whether to block or restrict one or more additional procedures.
Potential Applications
- This method can be applied in 5G networks where network slicing is used to provide different services with specific requirements.
- It can be used to ensure secure and authorized access to specific network slices for different types of devices or applications.
Problems Solved
- The method solves the problem of ensuring proper authentication and authorization for network slices in a 5G network.
- It allows for the blocking or restriction of certain procedures based on predefined conditions, providing control over network access.
Benefits
- The method enhances the security of network slices by ensuring proper authentication and authorization.
- It allows for more granular control over network access, enabling the blocking or restriction of procedures as needed.
- The method enables efficient management of network resources by controlling access to specific network slices.
Original Abstract Submitted
There is disclosed a method, for a UE, for performing a Network Slice-Specific Authentication and Authorization (NSSAA) procedure in a network comprising the UE and a first network entity. The method comprises: in response to transmitting, to the first network entity, a first message for initiating a first procedure, receiving, from the first network entity, a second message; determining whether a first condition is satisfied, the first condition comprising: the second message includes a predefined indication; and determining whether to block or restrict one or more second procedures based on the first condition.
