EFFICIENT NEW RADIO-LIGHT MESSAGE A REPETITION IN TWO-STEP RANDOM ACCESS CHANNEL PROCEDURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17780610 titled 'EFFICIENT NEW RADIO-LIGHT MESSAGE A REPETITION IN TWO-STEP RANDOM ACCESS CHANNEL PROCEDURE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • A user equipment (UE) receives a configuration signal that sets up random access opportunities for transmitting a preamble associated with a random access procedure.
  • Each random access opportunity is linked to a set of one or more uplink data opportunities.
  • The UE identifies a repetition parameter for an uplink message.
  • Based on the repetition parameter, the UE selects a random access opportunity from the configured set for transmitting the preamble.
  • The UE then transmits the preamble on the selected random access opportunity.
  • Additionally, the UE may transmit one or more repetitions of the uplink message using the set of uplink data opportunities associated with the selected random access opportunity.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems and devices
  • Mobile networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Smart devices and sensors

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient utilization of random access opportunities in wireless communications
  • Improved reliability and performance of random access procedures
  • Optimal selection of random access opportunities based on repetition parameters

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced reliability and efficiency in wireless communication systems
  • Improved performance and reduced latency in random access procedures
  • Better utilization of available uplink data opportunities

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration signal configuring a set of random access opportunities over which to transmit a preamble associated with a random access procedure, each random access opportunity associated with a set of one or more uplink data opportunities. The UE may identify a repetition parameter for an uplink message. The UE may select a random access opportunity from the set of configured random access opportunities for transmitting the preamble based at least in part on the repetition parameter. The UE may transmit the preamble on the selected random access opportunity. The UE may transmit one or more repetitions of the uplink message based at least in part on the set of one or more uplink data opportunities associated with the selected random access opportunity.
