DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION ALIGNMENT FOR MULTI-PANEL UPLINK MULTIPLE-INPUT MULTIPLE- OUTPUT TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17758195 titled 'DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION ALIGNMENT FOR MULTI-PANEL UPLINK MULTIPLE-INPUT MULTIPLE- OUTPUT TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application relates to wireless communication and specifically addresses the configuration and transmission of sounding reference signals (SRS) using different groups of antennas in a user equipment (UE). The application also discusses the determination of the size of a downlink control information (DCI) field to indicate the selected SRS set for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission.

  • User equipment (UE) determines configurations for two different sets of sounding reference signals (SRS) to be transmitted using different groups of antennas.
  • The size of a downlink control information (DCI) field is determined to indicate the selected SRS set for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission.
  • The UE receives an uplink DCI communication that schedules the PUSCH transmission.
  • The selected SRS set is identified based on the determined size of the DCI field and the information carried in the DCI field.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems and networks
  • Mobile devices and smartphones
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient configuration and transmission of sounding reference signals (SRS) using different groups of antennas in a user equipment (UE)
  • Accurate identification of the selected SRS set for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved wireless communication performance and efficiency
  • Enhanced signal transmission and reception capabilities in user equipment (UE)
  • Optimal utilization of antenna resources in wireless networks

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a first configuration for a first sounding reference signal (SRS) set and a second configuration for a second SRS set, the first SRS set to be transmitted using a first group of antennas of the UE and the second SRS set to be transmitted using a second group of antennas of the UE; determine a size of a downlink control information (DCI) field to be included in an uplink DCI communication scheduling a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission, the DCI field to indicate a selected SRS set; receive the uplink DCI communication scheduling the PUSCH transmission; and identify the selected SRS set based at least in part on the determined size of the DCI field and information carried in the DCI field. Numerous other aspects are provided.
