UPLINK-ONLY OR DOWNLINK-ONLY DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION MODE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17757812 titled 'UPLINK-ONLY OR DOWNLINK-ONLY DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION MODE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a wireless communication system where a user equipment (UE) can select a mode for monitoring downlink control information (DCI). The selected mode can be either a joint mode where both uplink and downlink DCI are monitored together, or a separate mode where one or more of the DCI for uplink or downlink are monitored separately. The UE then monitors the selected DCI mode accordingly.

  • The patent application is about a method for a UE to select and monitor DCI modes in wireless communication.
  • The UE can choose between a joint mode or a separate mode for monitoring uplink and downlink DCI.
  • The selected DCI mode determines how the UE monitors the DCI information.
  • This technology provides flexibility for the UE to adapt its monitoring strategy based on the selected DCI mode.
  • The patent application covers various aspects related to wireless communication and monitoring of DCI.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks.
  • It can be used in 5G and future generations of wireless networks.
  • The flexibility in selecting and monitoring DCI modes can improve the efficiency and performance of wireless communication.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of inefficient monitoring of DCI in wireless communication.
  • It addresses the need for flexibility in selecting and monitoring DCI modes based on the specific requirements of the UE.
  • It improves the overall performance and efficiency of wireless communication systems.

Benefits

  • The technology provides flexibility for UEs to select and monitor DCI modes according to their specific needs.
  • It improves the efficiency of wireless communication by optimizing the monitoring strategy.
  • The ability to monitor DCI separately or jointly enhances the performance of the UE in receiving and transmitting data.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may select a downlink control information (DCI) mode to be used by the UE, wherein the selected DCI mode is one of: a joint DCI mode in which a DCI for an uplink and a DCI for a downlink are monitored jointly, or a separate DCI mode in which one or more of the DCI for the uplink or the DCI for the downlink are monitored separately; and monitor at least one of the DCI for the uplink or the DCI for the downlink in accordance with the selected DCI mode. Numerous other aspects are provided.
