SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING INTRA-CHIP COMMUNICATION ERRORS IN A RECONFIGURABLE HARDWARE SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17716988 titled 'SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING INTRA-CHIP COMMUNICATION ERRORS IN A RECONFIGURABLE HARDWARE SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes systems and methods for error detection in an address channel. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The method involves generating a token and applying it to a request at a source.
  • A first result is generated and the request with the first result is transmitted to a destination over the address channel.
  • At the destination, a determination is made to check if an error has occurred with the request.
  • This determination involves receiving the received request and the first result over the address channel.
  • The token is applied to the received request to generate a second result.
  • The first result is compared with the second result, and a signal is transmitted in response to the comparison.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Error detection in communication systems, such as data transmission over networks.
  • Address channel error detection in computer systems and devices.
  • Error detection in storage systems, such as hard drives or solid-state drives.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures reliable data transmission by detecting errors in the address channel.
  • Helps identify and correct errors that may occur during data transmission.
  • Improves the overall accuracy and integrity of data communication.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhances the reliability and efficiency of communication systems.
  • Reduces the risk of data corruption or loss during transmission.
  • Enables prompt detection and correction of errors, leading to improved data integrity.

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems and methods for error detection for an address channel are disclosed. The method includes generating a token, applying the token to a request at a source, and generating a first result. The request with the first result is transmitted to a destination over the address channel. A determination is made, at the destination, whether an error associated with the request has occurred. The determining whether the error has occurred includes: receiving a received request corresponding to the request over the address channel; receiving the first result with the received request; applying the token to the received request and generating a second result; comparing the first result with the second result; and transmitting a signal in response to the comparing.
